What Every Aspiring Photographer Should Know
Words of wisdom from Cheryl Jacobs Nicolai
These are my thoughts, nothing more and nothing less.
I get asked all the time, during workshops, in e-mails, in private messages, what words of wisdom I would give to a new and aspiring photographer. Here’s my answer.
- Style is a voice, not a prop or an action. If you can buy it, borrow it, download it, or steal it, it is not a style. Don’t look outward for your style; look inward.
- Know your stuff. Luck is a nice thing, but a terrifying thing to rely on. It’s like money; you only have it when you don’t need it.
- Never apologize for your own sense of beauty. Nobody can tell you what you should love. Do what you do brazenly and unapologetically. You cannot build your sense of aesthetics on a concensus.
- Say no. Say it often. It may be difficult, but you owe it to yourself and your clients. Turn down jobs that don’t fit you, say no to overbooking yourself. You are no good to anyone when you’re stressed and anxious.
- Learn to say “I’m a photographer” out loud with a straight face. If you can’t say it and believe it, you can’t expect anyone else to, either.

 เห็นเพื่อนๆ ที่ใช้ Aperture เค้าแฮปปี้กับการทำ skin ที่มีมากับ Aperture 3 กันพอสมควร ก็เลยเอาวิธีทำผิวเนียนด้วย Lightroom แบบคร่าวๆ มาฝากกันครับ ทำเองยุ่งเหลือเกิน เอาที่ฝรั่งเค้าทำใส่ YouTube มาให้ดูดีกว่า

ไปเจอวิธีทำ catchlight ให้ดีขึ้นด้วย Lightroom จาก Lightroom Blog มาครับ เห็นว่าน่าสนใจดีก็เลยเอามาแบ่งปันกัน

เอามาฝากคนที่อยากทำความเข้าใจเรื่อง Blend Mode และ Opacity Mode ใน Photoshop ครับ เป็นวิดิโอที่อธิบายเรื่องนี้ได้เข้าใจง่าย ละเอียด และสมเหตุสมผลที่สุดเท่าที่เคยเจอมาทีเดียวเชียว ทำความเข้าใจวิดิโออันนี้ให้ละเอียด แค่นี้คุณก็จะเข้าใจเรื่องนี้เด็ดขาดมากเลยละครับ

Seen this from strobist web site. After I watch this VDO clip, I can’t help wonder why I can’t figure it out by myself. So simple, very creative, way way efficient and the best part is, it’s ultralight.
Can’t wait for the sunrise to rush out to some camping shop to buy thing for this.

 สำหรับคนที่อยากถ่ายแบบ tethered Shoot ที่พอเราถ่ายรูปแล้วไฟล์จะถูกโอนเข้าคอมพิวเตอร์ไปเลย คราวนี้มีโปรแกรมฟรีที่เอามาใช้แทน Nikon Camera Control Pro มาฝากกันครับ ผมลองใช้ดูแล้วกับ D90 ก็ใช้ได้ดี สั่งถ่ายจากคอมพิวเตอร์ก็ได้ ดู live view ก็ได้ โปรแกรมก็เล็กดี และที่สำคัญที่สุด.....
มันเป็นของฟรีครับ
ชื่อโปรแกรมก็คือ DCamCapture ครับ ลองเข้าไปดูรายละเอียดในลิงค์ที่ชื่อโปรแกรมได้เลย

dpBestflow เป็นเว็บที่ได้ทุนจาก US Library of Congress สำหรับโครงการ National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (ทางนั้นเค้าลงทุนกับเรื่องพวกนี้กัน ไม่เหมือนแถวนี้)
อยากรู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับการถ่ายภาพแบบดิจิตอล ที่นี่เหมือนเป็นแหล่งความรู้แหล่งใหญ่มาก มีแทบทุกอย่างที่เอาไว้ใช้อ้างอิงได้เลยในที่เดียว แทบไม่ต้องไปหาจากแหล่งอื่นอีกเลย
